ABH Mini Summer Lip Gloss Set: Review

Sadly, the Summer season is over but that doesn’t mean I can’t still wear a nice glossy lip. Shelby got me this Anastasia Mini Summer Lip Gloss set for my birthday this month and I have been using them a bunch! I always tend to go for a gloss on a day to day basis for work as I don’t like wearing a liquid lip for that long because my lips end up too dry and I find glosses fade nicely so I don’t have to worry about reapplying. From left to right: St. Tropez, Blushing, Grape Jelly, Toffee, Caramel, Tango My number one favourite thing about the Anastasia Lip Glosses is that fact that they are not at all sticky or goopy feeling on my lips. They glide on so smooth and are super pigmented, the swatches above are only one swipe! The mini size is perfect to throw in a handbag and take on the go. The colours are described on the site as follows: St. Tropez – Iridescent rose gold Tango – Crushed …

ABH Glow Kit – That Glow: Review

I love a good highlight and I know there are so many beauty lovers out there who are right along with me, so when I saw the swatches of the Anastasia Beverly Hill Glow Kits when they first came out they went immediately on to my wish list. It was hard to choose which one of the kits I wanted to purchase (truthfully I want them both) but I decided to go with “That Glow” since it has the most golden and champagne toned colours which I feel work best for my skin tone. Let’s start with the packaging. It is sleek and thin but holy moly do you get a lot of product for the price! You get 4 pans of product that are about 7.37 grams each for $52 CAD. To put that in to perspective, the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors (which don’t get me wrong, are still amazing) are 8 grams each and cost $46 CAD. So I would say that is quite a deal. The products inside are just as great. They …

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer Review

If you’ve been following the blog for a while now you’ll know my ride or die concealer is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer, but I was hearing such great things about this concealer I thought why not give it a try. The Too Faced Born This Way Radiant Concealer is for those who don’t need a lot of under eye correcting like myself. The coverage is definitely more on the sheer to light side while still giving enough of a brightening affect. Formula wise I would say it is extremely light weight and blends great into foundation. A lot of reviews said they had problems with creasing, but once set with Laura Mercier Translucent Powder or Secret Brightening Powder I had zero creasing. The only down side I had with this concealer is the packaging. I find the stopper doesn’t keep the concealer inside the barrel as well as it doesn’t close tight enough. So, unfortunately this concealer – for me – was not travel friendly. All in all, with formula …

Review: Aveeno Daytime Moisturizer

If you have been following this blog for a while you’ll know that my skin and myself don’t see eye to eye. Once I think I’ve got it under control something about it changes. This time around I found that my skin isn’t as dry as it used to be and my t-zone has gotten more on the oily side. I had been using a night cream for a day time moisturizer because my skin was so dry but I had been finding it was now too heavy for day use. I have always liked Aveeno products so I thought I would try one of their day time moisturizers and here are my thoughts!  I picked up the Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15. The packing is compact and easy to close and travel with. The product isn’t greasy and it absorbs into the skin quickly and leaves it looking very healthy and radiant with a slight glow. I honestly quite like the way my skin looks with just this on it. A little also goes …

Most Recent Empties of 2016

Happy Tuesday everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve done an empties post and it seems I have built up quite the collection of stuff I’ve used up. Prepare for a long post people because there’s a lot of products! So let’s dive right into it shall we? Here are the products I’ve completely used up over the past few weeks. Let’s start with hair products. There are posts about both of these products on the blog. I’ve been using the TRESemme Leave-in Split End Conditioning Treatment for a while now and I love it and have already repurchased this a few times. It’s a leave-in conditioner that you can put in your wet or dry hair to tame your frizz as well repair your split ends, also it smells so damn good! I get mine at Walmart for about $7 CAD. Not only is it a great product but also super affordable. I also have been using the Marc Anthony Second Day Clear Dry Shampoo. Shelby and I have raved about this dry shampoo …

Review: bareMinerals Multi-Tasking Face Powder

I have loved this product for at least a year now but oddly enough I always forget to mention it in any makeup looks or favourites posts, so today’s post is to give it the recognition is deserves! Sometimes I find regular concealer can be too heavy for my under eyes or make spots and pimples I’m trying to conceal look too cakey so that’s where this product comes in. This bareMinerals Broad Spectrum Multi-tasking Face Powder in “Bisque” is a great powder concealer that I use almost daily. The colour matches my skin tone perfectly so it’s great for concealing but not so much for brightening on myself personally. I mostly use this to cover any blemishes and pimples because it’s a lightweight formula but gives you great coverage. It’s also very pigmented so a little product goes a long way. This product currently is at Sephora for $23 which is pretty good considering this product lasts me months at a time. The only thing I will say is it isn’t very buildable. If you …

Tartlette Times Two

How many palettes is too many palettes? Because honestly I can’t get enough. I had wanted both of these palettes since I had laid eyes on them and now I finally have both! First things first about both of these palettes is the packaging is great. They are thin and sleek and with a large mirror so they are great for travel, also they are just so pretty. It’s also not cheap material so I don’t foresee these breaking on me any time soon. Now onto the product inside. First let’s discuss the original Tartelette Palette. This palette contains all matte shades from the neutral purple and brown range, it also has a matte black which is always good to have in a palette. The colours are all very pigmented, creamy and blend like a dream. I love a good shimmer shadow but sometimes you need a good matte eye look. Also purples and browns are probably my favourite colours to use on my eyes so this palette is great for my day to day looks for work. …

Review: NYX Wonder Stick

I am so into contouring my face. Skinnier face and defined cheekbones? Yes please! I had wanted to get into cream contouring but I was a little nervous I would end up a muddy looking mess, until I found this little gem. Shelby and I love NYX products so I thought I would give their Wonder Stick a try. It was only about $15 so I thought I would try this before dropping $50 on a high end cream contour kit. I got the shade Medium/Tan and it works great with my skin tone. You basically draw on everywhere you want to highlight and contour and then blend away. This product blends super easily into the skin and leaves you with a very subtle and natural looking contour. I usually amp it up with a powder after to give it a little more definition but it also looks great on it’s own. The contour colour is not too grey or too red toned, it seems to be the perfect cream contour shade for me. The …

Sephora Bright Set Finishing Powder Review

I’ve recently decided to change my working hours so now I start bright and early at 7 AM. It’s great because now I get off at 3, but let me tell you I need all the help I can when it comes to looking awake and alive. I got the Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette ages ago, and fell in love with the banana powder in the kit for setting my under eye area. Unfortunately that was the first thing I ran out of and as of right now you can’t buy the shade on it’s own. I couldn’t justify buying a whole new palette for one shade, so I went on the hunt for a reasonably priced banana powder. I always seem to look over Sephora brand products. I don’t know why, since they’ve never failed me before, but I always seem to forget them. However when I was searching Sephora’s site I came across their Bright Set Pressed Finishing Powder. It was a whole pan of it for only $20 …

The Perfect Spring Fragrance

If you’ve been following our blog for a while, you’ll know I’m a sucker for floral scents. For years I wore Marc Jacobs Daisy and lately I’ve been a real sucker for Giorgio Armani Si. Both are still in heavy rotation, and I don’t see that dying down anytime soon. But, in the summer I do like to reach for a more subtle but equally as stunning scent. That’s when I find myself grabbing Jo Malone’s Peony & Blush Suede. The top note is red apple; middle notes are peony, jasmine, carnation and rose and the base note is suede. I love this fragrance because its floral and girly, yet very soft and fresh. If you’re looking for a great spring/summer fragrance I definitely recommend checking out the Jo Malone line, they really have something for everyone. S.
