I’ve recently decided to change my working hours so now I start bright and early at 7 AM. It’s great because now I get off at 3, but let me tell you I need all the help I can when it comes to looking awake and alive. I got the Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette ages ago, and fell in love with the banana powder in the kit for setting my under eye area. Unfortunately that was the first thing I ran out of and as of right now you can’t buy the shade on it’s own. I couldn’t justify buying a whole new palette for one shade, so I went on the hunt for a reasonably priced banana powder.
I always seem to look over Sephora brand products. I don’t know why, since they’ve never failed me before, but I always seem to forget them. However when I was searching Sephora’s site I came across their Bright Set Pressed Finishing Powder. It was a whole pan of it for only $20 and it had gotten some fairly decent reviews so I thought, why not?
When I received it in the mail the first thing I was surprised about was the size. It was much larger than I expected it to be so I got more product than I thought I would – which is always a bonus! I also like that it was a pressed powder as loose powders can be messy, and the packaging is sturdy and seems like it would travel well. There is no mirror with the product but honestly, most of my other products come with a mirror so I wasn’t bothered.
The actual product is pretty nice. It’s not too chalky and I don’t find it leaves my under eyes cakey. It’s not as finely milled and smooth as the Kat Von D one but it’s not terrible either. As for brightening… It’s okay. I don’t notice a huge difference to be quite honest with you, however it doesn’t make my under eyes look worse.
I would say overall this product is pretty good for the price point. Especially if you don’t want to drop $50 on a whole contour kit. However the minute I can get my hands on the Kat Von D one I will be all over it.
