Love/Hate : Eyeshadow Palette

Now what true beauty lover doesn’t own their fair share of eyeshadow palettes? Between the two of us we must own between 15 to 20. With that being said we’ve come across mostly winners but unfortunately we didn’t love everything we’ve bought. Here are a few palettes we felt were the best of the bunch and some that just didn’t quite make the cut.

SHELBY’S PICKS

EyeshadowPalette

LOVE Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette – If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you’ll know this is my holy grail. It’s the perfect neutral palette for everyday. It has great transition shades, rich deep colours and even some great shimmers. If I had to pick an everyday palette or a palette to take on vacation with me this would be it. I can create so many different looks with it, from light everyday makeup to a smokey night out look. Not to mention it smells heavenly and the packaging is SO cute. What girl doesn’t want their makeup to smell like chocolate, am I right?

HATE Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette – I ordered this palette when I was looking to add more shimmery shades into my looks. I thought I was going to love it but after many trial and errors with this palette I can honestly say I could have done without it. Not only does it not come with enough matte or transition shades but I find that with my skin tone and hair colour these shadows are too dark for my liking.

KRYSTIN’S PICKS

LOVE Stila Eyes are the Window: Soul Palette – I have had this palette for a few months now and I still can’t get over how much I love it. It’s the perfect mix of shimmers and mattes all wrapped up in gorgeous gold packaging. I can use this to create a great everyday subtle eye look or one fit for a night out. The shadows are also super blendable so application is a breeze and my favourite shadow of the whole palette – “kitten” – is to die for.

HATE E.L.F. Prism Eyeshadow Palette – So I bought this for only $10 quite a while ago so lucky for me I didn’t spend too much on something I didn’t end up liking. All in all this was an okay palette for the price. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I hated it, but there is just so much better out there. For me these shadows didn’t blend very well and the palette has only very shimmery shades so this palette isn’t very versatile. I find when it comes to palettes you really get what you pay for in terms of quality and variety.
