I can honestly say about 95% of my closet has been purchased online. Over the years I feel like I’ve really gotten the hang of my favourite stores and become pretty good friends with my UPS man – who I’m pretty sure thinks I own a clothing store. So, I thought I’d give you guys a little glimpse into my online rules:
Read Up On The Return Policy: My favourite online shops are ones where you can return the items in store. There is nothing worse than getting something in the mail and hating it. Whether you’re trying out a new trend or simply just bought the wrong size. If you’re ever unsure of a purchase or store I recommend shopping in store. You also want to make sure if sales are final as well and if the company pays for the return shipping or if you do.
Know Your Body: Luckily, most stores have size guides which I find comes in handy when it comes to international sizing. A little trick in case you aren’t sure – UK sizing is always two sizes bigger so if you’re a US 8 for example in the UK you’d be a 12. People these days are so worried about the size on the tag that shopping becomes a bit of a chore for them. You don’t have to be worried about anyone judging you. It’s just you, your computer hanging out in your sweatpants right?
Be Aware Of Currency Conversions: This is a huge one! I can’t even count how many times I thought I was spending under $100 to see on my statement that it was actually in USD. And, let me tell you, that is not a fun feeling especially when the conversion rate is so terrible. Always make sure you’re in the right country and the right dollar for safe sales.
Sleep On It: My favourite part of websites these days is the fact that you can put items into a wish list. Waiting on certain items may end up being sold out but how I look at it, you just saved some money.
EBATES! Last but not least my favourite weapon, and one I 50% of the time forget about til it is too late. EBATE’s is a website connected to many shopping sites that actually gives you a percentage back for your purchases. That’s it, no strings attached. I wish I would have found this sooner but I’m glad I have this in my back pocket for those cheeky purchases I like to use. Now if you’re in an online shopping habit it can be hard to remember so I recommend making it the first link in your bookmark section like I have.
