Introduction To MAC

As you all know I have been taking a makeup course for the past month and in that tuition came a “MAC Starter Kit” I won’t list everything I received but I will tell you my favourite of the bunch. I’m not going to lie before I started this course I would have picked Sephora over MAC every time. Not because I don’t like MAC – trust me their lipsticks are some of my favourite – but I just find Sephora more inviting. Does anyone else feel that way? But, the more I’ve worked with MAC products the more I’m really getting into it. I can already feel many hauls coming.MAC1

Now shall we start with the eyes? Funnily enough MAC eyeshadows were one of my first makeup purchases ever if you really want to see what 12 year old Shelby was thinking check out Chrome Yellow, Electric Eel and Passionate on the MAC website and then imagine them in a colour blocking effect on your eyelids – I’ll give you a minute to laugh. With that said I’ve been loving these six shades, a few are probably your favourite youtuber/blogger favourites as well and for good reason.

  • Sketch – Velvet burgundy with red shimmer
  • All That Glitters – Beige with gold shimmer
  • Blanc Type – Matte creamy beige
  • Espresso – Matte muted golden brown
  • Mulch – Velvet red-brown with golden shimmer

For a super shimmery inner corner or even to use as a highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones – depending on your skin tone – I love these loose pigments in Vanilla and Tan and to start every application whether its with the pigments or regular shadows “Soft Ochre” Pro Long Paint Pot is seriously amazing for keeping your look intact I now understand what the fuss is about.

And now for the face, I talked a little bit about the Mineralized Skinfinishes a couple weeks ago in this post. I like to use two different shades to set my makeup, I’ll use light where I usually highlight and medium where I usually want to contour or bronze. That way if I don’t feel like getting out the old highlights and bronzers out I don’t have to or if I do it helps define those areas before I go in. Now, we all know I’m a huge supporter of Anastasia Beverly Hills and her Brow Wiz/Dip Brow but if you are looking for something a little more inexpensive I would recommend the MAC Mechanical Brow Pencil’s. They come in a great selection of shades and the formula is creamy and pigmented. And, last but not least the two lipsticks I’ve chosen to talk about are ones I wasn’t so sure about in the beginning but I really do love. “Twig” a soft muted brownish pink and “Fleshpot” a pale muted pink. One I always thought would be too brown and the other I thought would be too pale but I love them, and as I said before these formulas are amazing.

If there are any MAC products you think I should give a try, please leave them in the comments below!
