Love/Hate: Face Cleansers

cleansersAh, my ever lasting battle with my skin. I have tried so many cleansers it’s actually ridiculous. I’ve also experienced oily, dry and combination skin. I usually just go for drugstore cleansers because I don’t really want to drop a lot of money on a product that won’t react well with my sensitive skin and I’ve also found a drugstore cleanser that works  for me so why not save a little money (that I can spend on makeup to put on said cleansed skin later).

I used the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash when I had oily skin, but it left my skin feeling dry and tight. The smell is less than desirable and I found it did little help with my blemishes. I also found it didn’t take my makeup off very well. All in all, this is a cheap face cleanser but just didn’t do it for my skin.

On a better note, I’ve been using Nivea’s Gentle Cleansing Cream Wash for at least 5 months now (probably the longest I’ve stuck to a cleanser to date) and I have no intentions of using anything else any time soon! I started using this once my skin had become dry, so when I saw the words “Dry & Sensitive Skin” I knew I had to give it a try. The consistency is very creamy and I don’t notice any scent coming from this product. It also takes of my makeup well and leaves my face feeling soft and moisturized. At only about $8 I’d say this is a steal!

What are your favourite cleansers for your skin? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I would say the neutrogena cleanser but spot stress control one is better than the acne one as it’s not too harsh & it did great with my blemishes but yes, I had t stop using it because of the smell, just wasn’t appealing
